The Lay of the Land


🌊 The Coast

Rocky cliffs and treacherous shores dominate most of the island's perimeter. Sharp rocks just beneath the water's surface have claimed many ships. Only a few small beaches offer safe landing.


🌲 The Interior

Dense forest covers the island's center, with ancient trees and thick undergrowth. Winding paths lead to various points of interest. Wildlife is abundant but wary.

⛰️ Dragon's Rest Peak

A rocky outcropping on the north side provides an elevated vantage point. Local legend says a dragon once nested here, and some claim to still see shadows in the sky during storms.


🕳️ The Caverns

Sea caves riddle the cliffs, some accessible only at low tide. These caves connect to larger underground chambers, some natural, others clearly carved by hands.


📜 HISTORY & LEGENDS

The Island's Past

Stormwreck Isle has a long and mysterious history. Ancient records suggest it was once a holy site, sacred to Bahamut, the Platinum Dragon. A small monastery stood here centuries ago, tended by devoted clerics and protected by a bronze dragon guardian.


🐉 The Dragon Wars

During the great conflicts between chromatic and metallic dragons, the island saw fierce battles. The monastery was destroyed, but the bronze dragon fought valiantly to protect it. Some say the dragon still watches over the ruins, appearing only in times of great need.


⛈️ Why "Stormwreck"?

For as long as sailors have navigated these waters, storms have plagued this stretch of coast. Dozens of ships have been dashed against the rocks. Whether this is natural weather, magical interference, or the rage of some ancient entity remains debated in taverns from Neverwinter to Waterdeep.


🏴‍☠️ Modern Times

Today, the island is largely abandoned, visited only by treasure hunters, pirates seeking a hideout, and occasionally adventurers investigating the ruins. The storms continue, and strange lights are sometimes seen flickering in the caves at night.

🏛️ The Ruined Temple

Sacred to Bahamut

Once a beautiful shrine, now moss-covered stones and broken pillars. The altar still stands, and some claim offerings left here are blessed. Strange draconic runes glow faintly in moonlight.


⚓ Shipwreck Beach

Graveyard of vessels

The safest landing site, ironically littered with the remains of ships that didn't make it. Salvagers occasionally visit, but most cargo has long since been claimed by sea or scavenger.


🏚️ The Old Lighthouse

No longer lit

A crumbling stone tower on the western point. Its light went dark decades ago. Climbing to the top offers a commanding view of the surrounding waters.

🐉 Dragon's Rest Cave

The bronze dragon's lair

A large sea cave accessible only by water or flight. Local legend says the guardian dragon rested here. The cave contains ancient carvings and possibly the dragon's hoard, if it ever existed.


🕳️ The Deep Grottos

Underwater passages

A network of submerged caves connects various parts of the island. Some air pockets exist, but exploring requires magic or exceptional swimming ability. Strange creatures dwell within.


🏴‍☠️ Smuggler's Cove

Hidden anchorage

A sheltered inlet on the south side, known to pirates and smugglers. Ships can anchor here safely, hidden from casual observation. Evidence of camps and temporary shelters dot the area.

⛵ GETTING THERE

How to Reach Stormwreck Isle


From Neverwinter: Hire a boat for approximately 50-100 gold pieces. The journey takes 4-6 hours in good weather. Most sailors are reluctant to approach too closely due to the rocks and reputation.


By Magic: Teleportation is possible if you've been there before or have a detailed description. Water Walk or similar spells can help with the landing.


Warning: Always check weather conditions. Storms can appear suddenly, and many ships that approached the island never returned. Bring a competent navigator.
